Genloop uses role-based access control to define what each member of your workspace can see and do. Roles are assigned per member and can be updated at any time from Workspace settings.

Built-in roles

Genloop ships with four built-in roles that cover most team structures: Admin Full access to everything in the workspace. Can manage members, edit connections, update Context Hub, review and approve in Review Center, and manage billing. Data Manager Can manage data connections, edit Context Hub, and review validation requests in Review Center. Cannot manage members or billing. Analyst Can ask questions in Chat, build and edit Liveboards, create reports, and set up Automations. Cannot manage connections, Context Hub, or members. Viewer Read-only access. Can view Liveboards and Chat answers but cannot ask new questions or make changes.

Custom roles

Custom roles are available on the Growth and Enterprise plans. On Free and Pro, you can only use the four built-in roles.
On Growth and Enterprise, you can create custom roles with a specific combination of permissions. Custom roles let you scope access at the data source, table, Liveboard, column, and row level — so analysts, executives, and admins all work within the exact boundaries you set. Enterprise plans also support custom role auto-sync with your identity provider via SSO and SAML.

Assigning roles

Roles are assigned when you invite a member or can be updated from the members list in Workspace settings. Click the role dropdown next to any member to change it.
